One way to assess Juvéderm’s effectiveness is to contrast and compare the numerous photographs available on the Internet of patients before and after their Juvéderm treatment. Just type “Juvéderm results” into your favorite search engine. Most of these photographs come from the files of dermatologists or plastic surgeons who specialize in the procedure, which means there’s an inherent selection bias – physicians attempting to interest you in their services are unlikely to post photographs that document negative results. Nevertheless, these pictures are generally a good guide to the types of results you can expect.

According to these photographs, Juvéderm works best on laugh lines around the mouth (or nasolabial folds.) The deep wrinkles appear to be considerably softened in both women and men after the injection of one or two syringes of Juvéderm, even in photographs taken under harsh, overhead light. Good results were also observed when Juvéderm was used to treat “marionette lines” (melomental folds), those unsightly creases that run from your mouth to your chin.

Juvéderm also worked well when it was used to fill in hollow cheeks. Like every other muscle in our body, facial muscles start to sag as we age; facial bones can also lose some of their density. Juvéderm rounds cheeks, adding volume and support and effectively reversing these signs of aging.

Additionally, Juvéderm seems to work very well on hands: by plumping up the volume, Juvéderm minimized the appearance of ugly, ropey veins and protruding ligaments, making hands look noticeably younger.

One area that Juvéderm seemed to excel in is lip augmentation. Numerous photographs document visible hump reduction, nasal shortening, and a slight tip rotation and narrowing that turned the most ordinary lips into tools of seduction.
